Season's news for July to September - 1 Aug 2014

This quarter sees our busiest time for race events - the highlights being the British Touring Cars, The Truck SuperPrix and our Vintage Sports Car Festival.

Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship
Saturday 2nd - Sunday 3rd August

The British Touring Car Championship is the UK's premier four wheeled motorsport series, famed for its close racing, unpredictable results and inevitable contact between its hard charging drivers.

There's an even bigger buzz than usual about the 2014 season, with a magnificent seven BTCC champions on the grid. Alain Menu and Fabrizio Giovanardi have both returned to the series, joining fellow title-winners Matt Neal, Jason Plato, Gordon Shedden, Colin Turkington and current BTCC king Andrew Jordan.

Turkington just leads the standings from Shedden and Jordan heading into Snetterton, which kicks off the second half of the season. The 300 circuit boasts some of the best views in national motorsport, with most of the circuit visible from its three large spectator bankings at Montreal, Palmer and Agostini corners. The layout provides great racing, and there was bucket loads of drama in 2013, including a dramatic roll for Jason Plato in the last race!

As well as three races from the BTCC, there will be support from the Ginetta GT Supercup, Renault Clio Cup, Formula Ford, and the young chargers of the Ginetta Junior Championship.

Traffic arrangements for this event will mean traffic management in place on the Harling road between 8:00am and 11:30am on Sunday the 3rd of August. All other traffic arrangements focus traffic on the A11 dual carriageway and all advance publicity gives this as the preferred route to and from the venue.

British Truck Racing Championship
Saturday 13th - Sunday 14th September

The British Truck Racing Championship returns to Snetterton this September for more supersized action on the 300 circuit!

Boasting acceleration of 0-100mph in less than five seconds, trucks defy their size, and under their skin they bear almost no resemblance to the machines that you see on the public roads. The drivers aren't afraid to risk a bit of body contact as they jostle for position, which makes for great racing!

The sights of these 1,000bhp monsters of motorsport plunging into Riches, Montreal, Palmer and Agostini corners is going to be well worth the wait! The long straights of Snetterton will also allow these juggernauts to demonstrate their true power.

Comparatively pint sized Legends and Pickup Trucks will comprise a support bill, bringing an element of American-style stock car racing to the Norfolk circuits! Plus there will be a fun fair, free adventure playground, showtruck displays and more!

The Snetterton Vintage Festival
Sunday 28th September

The Vintage Sports-Car Club made their first foray to Norfolk in 2012, with a superbly-received event on the 2 mile Snetterton '200' circuit. The VSCC was formed in 1934 with a cut-off date of vehicles manufactured by 1931 and you will see many fine vintage cars, plus a lot of post-vintage thoroughbreds - cars built between 1931 and 1940 but adhering to earlier standards - plus the best post-war cars such as the Grand Prix and sports racing cars of the 1950s.

Pre 1931 racers will contest the illustrious Vintage Seaman Trophy, featuring a 24 litre Napier Bentley, amongst Morgan three wheelers, and 1950s Sports Racing Cars will recall the legendary Autosport 3 Hour Races. Also from that decade will be 500cc Formula 3 racers.

With plenty more with a period theme to see and do at the venue so don't miss a nostalgic throwback to a glorious bygone era!
