Douglas Motorsport’s Tymek Kucharczyk got to within 0.051s of the official Snetterton lap record in the final test session of the week on Friday afternoon.
The Polish driver’s time of 1m39.984s was the fastest of the week, and just shy of Felipe Nasr’s British F3 time of 1m39.933s set back in 2011.
Kucharczyk was the only driver to dip into the 1m39s, and set the time with his final flying lap, but was just 0.036s away from Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Alex Dunne, who had topped the times late on.
Elite Motorsport’s McKenzy Cresswell was third quickest for the second time today, a couple of tenths away from Dunne and 0.129s clear of Rodin Carlin’s Callum Voisin.
Fortec’s Max Esterson and JHR’s Matthew Rees were next up, as six different teams were again represented inside the top-six.
Oliver Stewart put the second Elite car in seventh place, 0.071s away from Rees and almost exactly the same time clear of Chris Dittmann Racing’s Zak Taylor in eighth.
Hillspeed’s Gerrard Xie was ninth, half a tenth behind Taylor and 0.007s ahead of JHR’s championship leader Joseph Loake, who completed a top-10 covered by 0.715s.
The top-15 drivers were covered by less than nine tenths of a second, and the lead 24 contenders split by 1.6 seconds.
The top-10 drivers all set their best times of the day in the final test, with only Nico Christodoulou, James Hedley, David Morales and Shawn Rashid setting their best laps this morning.
The field returnins to action for qualifying tomorrow morning at 11.10.
