The No. 78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini and No. 88 Garage 59 McLaren have qualified fastest for tomorrow’s first and second Intelligent Money British GT races at Snetterton, respectively.
Two qualifying sessions were run to set each grid with the first, for race one, solely for Am and nominated Silvers and the second session for Pro and the remaining Silvers.
In the first session, James Cottingham went to the top and stayed there finishing the session with a 1m47.017s to put the 2 Seas car he shares with Jonny Adam fastest. The two championship leaders were untouchable in the first qualifying session. However, a five place grid penalty for the duo means they start from sixth position and starting on pole for race one will be Shaun Balfe and Sandy Mitchell in the No. 78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, whose lap was nearly half a second behind.
Mark Radcliffe and Rob Bell will line up second in the No. 27 Optimum Motorsport McLaren 720s GT3 with No. 91 Century Motorsport duo Darren Leung and Dan Harper, driving the BMW M4 GT3 in third. Matt Topham and Marcus Clutton will start fourth in the No. 77 Enduro Motorsport McLaren 720s GT3 Evo.
Garage 59 driver Marvin Kirchhöfer set the fastest lap in the second GT3 qualifying session to take pole for the second British GT race tomorrow with only half a tenth back to Beechdean AMR’s Ross Gunn.
Gunn made a late charge at the previously dominant Kirchhöfer and finished 0.046s behind the pole time of 1m44.793s. Kirchhöfer, and teammate Alex West, therefore, start first with Gunn and Andrew Howard alongside them on the front row.
Jules Gounon in the No. 1 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG lines up third with teammate, reigning champion, Ian Loggie. Rafaelle Marciello and John Ferguson will start the second race fourth in the No. 15 RAM Racing Mercedes with Harper and Leung in fifth for Century Motorsport.
GT4 pole position for race one went to Stuart Middleton and Freddie Tomlinson in the No. 56 Raceway Motorsport Ginetta G56 GTA. Pole for race two went to Charles Clark and Jack Brown driving the No. 90 Optimum Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4.
