Webster blasts to double GB4 pole at Snetterton with record breaking time

17 June 2023

Evans GP’s Cooper Webster claimed his first two GB4 pole positions with a record breaking set of laps at Snetterton.

The Australian’s effort of 1m45.875s came with just under a minute of the session remaining, and was 2.6 seconds faster than last year’s pole position time.

Webster’s outright fastest time was 0.386s faster than KMR’s championship leader Tom Mills, with Webster also taking pole for race two with his second quickest time, 0.294s ahead of Fortec’s Colin Queen.

While Webster and Mills locked out the top-two, Queen put himself third on the grid for race one, 0.041s away from Mills and ahead of impressive series newcomer Lucas Blakeley.

Multiple ESports champion Blakeley, in his first weekend of slicks and wings racing, was only just over a second away from pole position, and 0.119s ahead of fellow Scotsman Harry Burgoyne Jnr, who enjoyed his best qualifying session of the season for Graham Brunton Racing.

Liam McNeilly was the lead Fox Motorsport driver in sixth place, 0.043s behind Burgoyne and a quarter of a second clear of Fortec’s Ruhaan Alva.

On his first weekend for Graham Brunton Racing, Jeremy Fairbairn was eighth fastest, just under two tenths ahead of the second Fox car of Sid Smith, with Fortec’s Aditya Kulkarni completing the top-10.

On the race two grid, Webster will start ahead of Queen, with Mills dropping to third ahead of Burgoyne.

Blakeley’s pace was further vindicated with the fifth quickest time, ahead of McNeilly. Fairbairn, Alva, Smith and Clifford will complete the race two grid top-10.

The first race of the weekend is due to commence at 17.35, with live streaming coverage due to commence at 17.15.
