Evans GP’s Cooper Webster soared from 11th on the grid to his second race win of the weekend after a thrilling final GB4 race at Snetterton.
Having made solid progress in the opening laps, the Australian found his way into second position by mid-race distance, and after following Fortec's Aditya Kulkarni for a handful of laps, initially made a move at Wilson hairpin, only for Kulkarni to rebuff the challenge, with the pair briefly making contact too.
But moments later, he got into the Indian driver's slipstream down the Bentley Straight, and completed the move around the outside of the Brundle and Nelson complex, and then pulled away to win by 2.5 seconds.
Kulkarni earned his second podium of the year with second, while KMR's championship leader Tom Mills also made progress up the order from 10th, stealing third place on the run to the line, and pipping teammate Jack Clifford by just over a tenth of a second.
Fourth for Clifford still represents his best race result of the season so far, having run in the podium positions for the entire race until the final seconds, and finishing 1.6 seconds clear of Fortec's Colin Queen in fifth.
Graham Brunton Racing's Jeremy Fairbairn ended his first weekend with the Scottish team in sixth place, while F1 Esports champion Lucas Blakeley ended his slicks and wings debut event with seventh place for KMR Sport.
Ruhaan Alva survived an airbourne moment on lap one and was eighth, ahead of Harry Burgoyne Jnr (Graham Brunton Racing), while Fox Motorsport's Liam McNeilly completed the top-10 despite losing his front wing.
Kulkarni led the first half of the race after out-dragging pole sitter Clifford off the line. But attentions quickly turned to Webster, who gained three spots on the first lap alone.
He then passed Mills and Alva next time around, and McNeilly at Agostini on lap three to take fifth. Fairbairn was next to be dispatched at Wilson on lap four, before going around the outside of Smith at Brundle moments later.
Already inside the top-three after four laps, he went up the inside of Clifford at Agostini on lap five to move into second, and lapped half a second quicker than the leader as he eyed the win.
A 2.1 second lead was reduced to seven tenths inside one lap, and at the end of lap eight, he was close enough to attempt a move at Wilson on lap nine. Going around the outside, the pair made contact but Kulkarni just held the lead. Webster tried again at Agostini, but eventually got into the slipstream down the Bentley straight and finally made it stick in a repeat of his Smith move from earlier in the race.
From there, he streaked clear, earning his second win of the weekend and his seventh successive GB4 podium.
