The Bennetts British Superbike Championship heads to Snetterton next weekend (7-9 July), with a tight battle developing at the top of the championship standings.
BeerMonster Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell leads the pack heading to Norfolk, having finished on the podium in eight of the 12 races so far, including a victory at Oulton Park.
But he’s just eight points clear of LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha’s Kyle Ryde, who has taken four victories so far in 2023. Having won the opening round at Silverstone, he took a double at Donington Park and was a winner last time out at Knockhill to fire him back up the order.
Ryde is just two points clear of fellow four-time winner Glenn Irwin. Bridewell’s teammate had triumphed at Silverstone and Oulton Park before a double of his own at Knockhill to keep him firmly in the mix.
FHO Racing BMW Motorrad’s Josh Brookes is aiming to close down a 16-point gap to the top three, having returned to winning ways earlier this year, with victories at Silverstone and Oulton Park. The Aussie is the top former champion in the current standings, equal on points with fellow champion Leon Haslam, who has enjoyed a strong season so far on his ROKiT BMW with four podiums, and is itching for a first victory of the year.
Jason O’Halloran, another Aussie on the grid, sits sixth overall for McAMS Yamaha at present, and having come close to taking the title in recent years, will be going all out to close up the deficit to the riders ahead of him. He’s returned to form too, with his first win of the year at Donington being followed up a podium double at Knockhill.
Lee Jackson is just a point further back for Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki, and clear of the LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha of local man Ryan Vickers, who hails from Thetford, and claimed his first two podiums earlier this year.
Three scintillating British Superbike contests will be the main focal point of the event, with the BikeSocial Sprint race on Saturday afternoon followed by two further contests on Sunday. The riders have plenty to fight for too, with the Quattro Group Race of Aces title and trophy awarded to the highest overall points scorer over the three contests.
As well as the three BSB races, there’s a packed support package, including Quattro Group British Supersport/GP2, Pirelli National and Junior Superstock, R&G British Talent Cup, ABK Beer 0% BMW Motorrad F900R Cup, British Sidecars and HEL Performance Junior Supersport, with 16 races scheduled across the event.
In addition, there’s plenty to see and do around the venue too, with a free of charge eBay Pit Walk at 12.15 on Sunday, plus trade stands offering series, rider and team merchandise, plus live music on Saturday evening and the Snetterton Adventure Playground will be open all weekend too.
Tickets are available in advance priced at £34 for the main Sunday race day, with discounted entry for teenagers aged 13-15 and free entry all weekend for children under-13. Tickets are available in advance until 4pm on Wednesday 5 July, after which they’ll be available at gate prices upon arrival at the venue. Click here to book or for more information.
