The Norfolk venue’s ‘biggest’ event of the year is now just days away, with truck racing storming into Snetterton on 14/15 September. A full weekend of supersized action features as the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) takes on the 300 circuit.
A quintet of BTRC contests are scheduled across the weekend, delivering the overtakes and edge-of-the-seat action that has made the series a fan-favourite, as ‘big rigs’ from some of the biggest manufacturers in the world all vie for glory.
Following on from a dramatic Convoy in the Park, the battle for BTRC glory is heating up, with Division 1 title contenders Ryan Smith and David Jenkins set to resume their tussle for the coveted crown. Smith is hunting down an incredible ninth consecutive BTRC title, and the Mansfield racer has remained on top form as he looks to continue his record streak. However, closest rival David Jenkins has remained a thorn in Smith’s side, securing two victories at Donington Park thanks to some phenomenal defending.
Elsewhere, the battle in Division 2 remains wide open, with John Powell trailing leader Simon Cole by just 13 points, with Paul Rivett also in contention a further 28 points back. Division 2 has seen multiple winners across each round this year, and some more late-season drama can never be discounted.
With only three rounds remaining in this year’s championship, expect the gloves to be off as these 1000bhp heavyweights produce thrilling close-quarters racing. Witnessing a pack of five-tonne, six-wheeled behemoths accelerate as quickly as a Porsche 911 is definitely something that has to be seen to be believed!
A colourful support race programme features too, with the ever-popular Pickup Truck Racing Championship providing fast and frenetic action. A variety of supercars will compete in the British Endurance Championship, while the Britcar Trophy, MG Owners Club and Snetterton Saloons wrap up a packed 17-race schedule. This eclectic mix of championships and series provides one of the most unique weekends in British motorsport.
Grandstand seating will be available to purchase on Sunday at the Jim Russell Stand and the Oliver Sear Stand, offering brilliant views of the most challenging corners and most popular overtaking spots.
Tickets for the British Truck Racing Championship at Snetterton are still available at discounted advance rates until 4pm on Thursday 12 September. Main raceday (Sunday) admission is priced at £25 for adults, with discounted rates for teenagers aged 13-15, and free entry for children under-13 all weekend.
