Scott Redding and Bradley Ray went head-to-head for the top spot in the opening ZYN British Superbike Championship Free Practice with the pair trading places right down until the final lap of the session at Snetterton.

Ray had started the session strongly for McAMS Yamaha, setting the early pace and leading the pack until the closing stages, when Redding and the Hager PBM Racing Team emerged ahead. In the final minute, the pair again traded place, before switching again at the chequered flag with Redding having the 0.021s advantage.

Ryan Vickers started his home round strongly for Honda Racing UK; the held third place after running consistently inside the leading five contenders to keep the defending champion and current standings leader, Kyle Ryde behind him.

The Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing rider edged out Leon Haslam and the Moto Rapido Racing team, with Danny Kent having a strong performance in sixth place, leaping up ahead of Max Cook and teammate Rory Skinner in the closing stages.

Storm Stacey and Jason O'Halloran completed the top ten with Glenn Irwin returning to the Norfolk circuit in twelfth place.
