The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship arrives at Snetterton next weekend (23/24 May) for the third round of 2026. With the season still in its early stages, the championship protagonists are beginning to emerge, with familiar names and new machinery rising to the top, but as the BTCC has proved time and time again, nothing is certain, and the next big twist may be right around the corner.
There was a trio of different winners last time out in Kent, with four-time champion Ash Sutton continuing on from a strong opening round at Donington Park with a masterful Race 1 win that also bumped his career total wins up to a remarkable 50. The NAPA Racing driver had already secured pole position honours on Saturday, demonstrating his impervious form as he pursues a record-breaking fifth title.
However, mixed conditions would throw up an unpredictable second race of the weekend, with Aron Taylor-Smith claiming a surprise win over Sutton as the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver passed the Ford Focus Titanium to claim his first BTCC victory in ten years. But a second place in the third and final race of the weekend ensures that Sutton arrives this weekend with a 47-point lead in the standings, but he’ll need to watch his back with several drivers hot on his heels.
Reigning champion Tom Ingram bounced back from a disappointing opening round at Donington Park to relaunch his title defence. A fifth place in the second-ever Race to Pole was maybe not the headline-grabbing result Ingram would have been after in his Team VERTU Hyundai i30N, but a podium in the first race on Sunday followed by victory in the final race of the day has moved him back up to second in the overall standings and has made him the closest challenger to Sutton as a result.
Others to watch out for include the returning Ricky Collard, the Power Maxed Racing Audis of Aiden Moffat and Mikey Doble, multiple race-winners Dan Cammish and Josh Cook as well as many more.
The BTCC promises plenty of intrigue and developing narratives heading into its triple-header, plus one qualifying race, on the Snetterton 300 circuit.
Discounted tickets are still available until 4pm on Thursday 21 May, with further reductions for 13-15 year olds and free entry for under 13s. Click here to book now.
