Elite Motorsport's Jesse Phillips triumphed in a start-stop second GB4 Winter Series race, held in treacherous wet conditions at Snetterton.
The Briton led home an all-Elite podium, 4.6 seconds ahead of team-mates Harrison Mackie and John O'Donnell respectively.
Phillips charged from third on the grid to steal the race lead from pole-sitter George Proudford-Nalder with an audacious move down the inside at Nelson corner on the opening lap.
By comparison, it was a nightmare start for race one winner Conor Grant, as the Douglas Motorsport driver had a poor launch from second on the grid. He had dropped to fifth by the first turn and fell further to seventh later in the lap after running wide at Williams.
Out front, Phillips extended his lead to 1.497s by the end of lap two, when a safety car was deployed for a multi-car incident at Williams.
Alexander De Benedittis initially ran wide before there was contact between Chase Fernandez – who was recovering from a pitlane start – and Solenn Amrouche behind. The pair spun before being collected by Archie Pearce, with all three retiring as a result.
The race was red-flagged on the fourth lap to allow for the recovery of the three stricken vehicles, with racing resuming behind the safety car 10 minutes later, and with 10 minutes still on the clock.
There were two laps remaining when the safety car came in, with Phillips sprinting clear at the front once again. He would lead O'Donnell over the line by 3.6s, with Mackie moving up to third after Proudford-Nalder dropped to seventh during the restart lap.
Mackie made his his way into second on the final lap with a daring move down the inside of O'Donnell at Oggies. Behind them, Grant – who had recovered to fourth – dropped six positions in the final sector, crossing the line in 10th.
Instead, Proudford-Nalder battled his way back to fourth, with the Fox Motorsport car of Archie Bullard fifth having started 11th and Qarrar Firhand sixth for Fortec Motorsport from ninth on the grid.
Goff did well to come home in seventh despite losing the front wing of his KMR Sport car during the restart, with Pace Performance's William Rohan the top rookie once more, ahead of Fox Motorsport's Jasser Iskander, who was one of the stars of the race as he blasted from 16th to ninth. Grant completed the top-10 after his eventful race.
Day two of the inaugural GB4 Winter Series will begin with qualifying tomorrow at 09:40 UK time, followed by races three and four of the weekend.
