Circuit news update 1 September to 30 November - 5 Sep 2012

The race season is drawing to a close, but we still have some exciting events to come:

Modified Live
Saturday 22 - Sunday 23 September 2012

Modified Live is an interactive event for tuning enthusiasts, showcasing the very best in souped-up machinery and the latest tuning products through a fusion of on track action, demonstrations and expert advice on tuning your own vehicle.

Four F1 racers from the 80s and 90s will provide a rare opportunity for spectators to experience the pinnacle of motorsport. From the spectacular turbo era, the Toleman T184 that brought Ayrton Senna to the world's attention will be a popular attraction. The team later morphed into Benetton and two of their cars from the following decade, complete with high-revving V8 engines, will take to the Norfolk circuit's long straights. In addition to the 1993 active suspension car from Michael Schumacher's early years, the 1990 car that Nelson Piquet took to victory in Japan and Australia will also appear. Piquet's 1989 Lotus 101, driven enthusiastically by current owner Steve Griffiths, returns after two runs at the circuit in recent Lotus Festivals.

Following their debut race at Snetterton, 1,000bhp racing trucks also make a return to the track with demonstration runs. There will be plenty of competitive action too, with the incredible European Drift Championship bringing spectacular sideways action, whilst the Time Attack Championship showcases the world's best modified performance cars lapping the circuit at breakneck speeds.

Racing entertainment is provided by NASCAR-style Pickup Truck racing, which will provide unbelievably close racing, whilst the brand new Civic Cup Championship provides fun, affordable racing for novice drivers. The spirit of Modified Live encourages spectators to get involved, with track time on the new 300 circuit available for the public to book on the Saturday for just £25. Alternatively unforgettable Drift Taxi rides can be experienced on the Sunday.

Those who prefer to take part in a more sedate manner can enter the Show and Shine competition or the Car Club Tug-of-War. There will even be a Supercar Paddock, offering the chance to get up close to some of the most desirable cars on the planet

Highlights on the circuit include the smoking tyres of the European Drift Championship and the Time Attack Series - a 'beat the clock' challenge for highly tuned road cars. You can also enjoy demo laps from 1,000bhp race trucks and stunt motorcycles - to name but a few.

This year, the event extends to two days for the first time - with the Saturday utilising the new 3 mile '300' circuit.

VSCC Richard Seaman Memorial Trophies Meeting
Snetterton 200
Sunday 30 September 2012

The Vintage Sports-Car Club make their first foray to Norfolk in 2012, with an event on the 2 mile Snetterton '200' circuit this September.

The VSCC was formed in 1934 with a cut-off date of vehicles manufactured by 1931. You will see many fine vintage cars at Snetterton, plus a lot of post-vintage thoroughbreds - cars built between 1931 and 1940 but adhering to earlier standards - plus the best post-war cars such as the Grand Prix and sports racing cars of the 1950s.

Don't miss a nostalgic throwback to a glorious bygone era!

November brings a return of

Wickford Auto Club 'FMSUDAFIX Stages Rally'

Snetterton 300
Sunday 04 November 2012

Following last years successful inaugural Stage Rally, Wickford Auto Club and Green Belt Motor Club will once again return to run the second Snetterton Stages event on the '300' circuit.
There will be up to 80 competitors starting at 30 second intervals competing against the clock using the circuit in both directions, with an estimated mileage of in excess of 65 miles.

All stages will be in the confines of the race circuit, utilising the tarmac surface on the 300 configuration. The first stage commences at 9.00 am with virtually non stop action until the last 2 stages which will be run in darkness. Visit the paddock and get close up to the cars and crews and take a look at the stage times and positions on display at Rally HQ
